What Is Microsuction?

Microsuction is a modern, safe, and clinically recommended method of ear wax removal. Unlike traditional syringing, it uses gentle suction to remove wax without the need for water, reducing the risk of damage or infection.

Using Tympa Health’s advanced video otoscopy, we can show you high-resolution images of your ear canal before and after the procedure. You’ll also receive a comprehensive  ear health check, including an HD digital ear examination and hearing test, to determine whether wax removal is necessary.

 

If no wax is present, you'll still benefit from a professional diagnosis, hearing check, and tailored ear care advice. We can also refer you onward if further care is needed.

• Book Your Appointment – Visit or call Houlihan Pharmacy, or book online via our website

• Initial Assessment – We’ll examine your ears using Tympa Health’s digital otoscope and perform a hearing check for wax build-up and assess overall ear health.

• Microsuction Procedure – If wax is present and removal is required, we’ll safely remove it using microsuction in a clean and private setting.

• Aftercare and Follow-up – You’ll receive personalised guidance on ear care and the option to book a follow-up appointment if needed.
   

The full process usually takes around 30 minutes.

 

Preparation Before your Appointment
To ensure the wax is softened and easier to remove, please use olive oil drops twice a day for 7 days prior to your appointment.

• £30 for one ear

• £50 for both ears
  (includes HD digital ear examination, hearing test, and wax removal if required)

• £10 - HD Digital Ear Health Examination and Hearing Test (if no removal is necessary)

• £10 - Optional Ear Health follow-up appointment
   

​If no wax removal is required, your fee still covers a full ear health assessment, hearing test, and professional advice.
