At Houlihan Pharmacy, we’re proud to offer NHS Pharmacy First Plus - a free healthcare service available across Scotland that allows trained pharmacists to treat a wide range of common conditions without the need for a GP appointment.
 

If you're feeling unwell or have a minor illness, our pharmacists can assess your symptoms, provide treatment, and issue prescriptions if needed - all without any cost to you. It’s fast, convenient, and designed to help you get the care you need, closer to home.
 

What Is Pharmacy First Plus?

Pharmacy First Plus is an enhanced NHS Scotland service available at Houlihan Pharmacy. 

It allows our qualified Independent Prescribing Pharmacists to assess, diagnose, and prescribe appropriate medicines for a wider range of common health conditions - without the need to see your GP.

 

How is it different from Pharmacy First?

Pharmacy First offers advice and treatment for common conditions through all community pharmacies.

Pharmacy First Plus goes further. Our Independent Prescribing Pharmacists can carry out a full clinical assessment and prescribe medicines based on your individual needs.

 

What can we help with?

We can assess and treat many common conditions, including:

•    Skin conditions (acne, eczema, infections)

•    Coughs, colds, sore throats, hay fever

•    Earache, headaches, back pain

•    Indigestion, reflux, diarrhoea, constipation

•    Thrush, UTIs, period pain, emergency contraception

•    Mouth ulcers, cold sores, head lice, threadworms

•    Athlete’s foot, fungal nail infections, warts and verrucae

•    Selected infections and other conditions requiring prescription medicines, where appropriate
